Wellness & Preventative Care

Keeping your pet healthy isn’t just about treating illness - it’s about preventing it whenever we can. At our hospital, we believe the best veterinary care starts with a focus on prevention. Wellness care helps us catch potential issues early, keep track of your pet’s changing needs, and give them the healthiest, happiest life possible.

What is Preventative Care?

Preventative care is all the routine steps we take to protect your pet’s health before problems arise. It’s about being proactive, not reactive—because catching something early can mean more treatment options, less stress for your pet, and fewer unexpected costs for you.

CatCheckUp

    This includes:

Annual & Semi-Annual Exams – Thorough nose-to-tail check-ups to assess your pet’s overall health.

Vaccinations – Protecting your pet from contagious and potentially life-threatening diseases.

Parasite Prevention – Year-round protection from fleas, ticks, heartworm, and intestinal parasites.

Dental Care – Professional cleanings and at-home recommendations to protect oral health.

Bloodwork & Lab Testing – A deeper look inside your pet’s health to detect hidden issues early.

Nutrition & Weight Management – Guidance on feeding, supplements, and keeping your pet at a healthy weight.

   Why Wellness Visits Matter

Even if your pet seems perfectly healthy, routine wellness exams give us valuable information and a chance to:

Detect changes in weight, mobility, or behavior.

Monitor chronic conditions and adjust treatments.

Update vaccines and parasite prevention.

Build a health history for your pet so we can spot changes over time.

A Lifelong Partnership for Health

We know your pet is a member of your family, and we’re here to help you give them the best life possible. From playful puppy or kitten visits to senior pet wellness plans, our goal is to be your partner through every stage of your pet’s life.

Your pet’s health is always evolving—preventative care helps us stay one step ahead.

Understanding the VCPR
(Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship)

A valid Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) is the foundation of good veterinary medicine. It means:

Your pet has had a physical exam by one of our veterinarians within the past year.

We have enough knowledge of your pet’s health to make accurate medical decisions.

We can follow up on treatment outcomes to ensure your pet’s well-being.

Without a valid VCPR, Michigan law does not allow us to diagnose conditions, prescribe medications, or provide certain treatments—even over the phone or through telemedicine. Regular wellness visits help keep your pet’s VCPR active, so we can be there when they need us most.

Give your pet the gift of good health.
